Tied like a Fish Taco Fly but using Rhea instead of Ostrich Plume. This gives the fly a little less silhouette, but with the same action, plus Rhea really stands out and moves in the water. These are the two primary colors I use in the summer and fall. Black/Purple/Red and Black/Chartreuse and Blue - Methow color Scheme (where I first discovered this color combination). Unweighted and easy to cast, and has more movement because of the Rhea. Size: 2.5 - 3 inches Tied on a FS SENYOS ARTICULATED SHANK 25MM BLACK Tied with an Owner size two SW hook. Tied on a 2051 Alec Jackson Black Spey Hook, Size 3 "In years past, on rivers such as Oregon’s North Umpqua, it was not uncommon for seasoned anglers to swing slim, long-shanked Muddlers and nothing else. Even now this remains a truly killer “confidence” fly that newer generations of steelheaders would do well to get acquainted with and knot onto their leader." - Dave McNeese You can fish this fly wet or near the surface - waking in and out of the surface film, or on top. The head is black spun deer belly hair, but not too much that it can't be fished wet. Just the right about to do both surface or sub surface. See other Green Butt Skunks (Click Here)

With many years of intense searching for these anadromous business partners, I have found tying my skaters on a 60° hook has had the most success. The fly skates, pops and gurgles, making it hard for fish to resist. The Hanger is easy to cast and will pop well due to the tail end of the fly being weighed down by the hook. This keeps the legs down and the foam up for that iconic pop. Greatest of all are most of the fish hooked on the 60° jig hook are landed. Black and blue for those early morning dawn patrols and over cast days, orange for bright fish, and white for that 12 O’clock lunch fish when everyone’s taking a nap.
